The MTR Corporation has started a series of preparation works on the Tuen Ma Line viaduct progressively since 2023. Getting ready to transform the viaduct for future new station!

The future Hung Shui Kiu Station will be located between Tin Shui Wai Station and Siu Hong Station on the Tuen Ma Line. How complicated is it to construct a new station on top of an operating railway?

To ensure the smooth commencement of the main construction works for Hung Shui Kiu Station, a series of alterations and additions works have commenced on a 200-metre-long viaduct between Tin Shui Wai Station and Siu Hong Station. One of the critical preparation works is the cutting and removal of concrete parapets along the viaduct that will be converted into a station in the future, so as to make space for assembly of the platform and other structures for the future station.

To ensure these works will be conducted safely without affecting daily train operations, the majority of the works have to be done during the “Golden 2 Hours” during non-traffic hours.
